The Company

Our client provides Supported Living, Residential, Outreach and Community Services to individuals with multiple or complex needs such as learning disabilities, autism, ABI and/or challenging behaviours and they are currently recruiting for a Deputy Service Manager in Virginia Water.

The Role

The service is a transitional service for young adults with learning disabilities. There are 5 people who currently live at the bungalow all ranging from approx. 20 – 30 years of age. All of the people supported have varying needs so some people are very independent, some need prompting for personal care and other day to day activities and 1 person supported needs full personal care support and is in a wheelchair.
Most of the residents go to day centres all day Mon-Fri and usually 1 individual stays behind at the house to do activities 1 on 1 with a support worker or do specialised activities. Therefore the service runs on a split shift basis which is quite unusual but may suit a lot of people with the hours they do. It runs 7am – 10am and then 3pm – 9pm with night shifts as well. The service is quite active in the activities they do which include rock climbing, discos, shopping, canoeing, sports and pub dinners for example.

The role will include a mixture of some admin work such as reviewing and updating documents, care plans, carrying out supervisions, ordering medication, ensuring the service is covered, and carrying out audits and health and safety checks, as well as hands on person centred support with the residents such as personal care, attending appointments, engaging in activities etc.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Hold full valid driving licence, access to own car (due to location) AND willing to drive mobility vehicle (this is to take residents to day centres and other activities)
• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or complex needs
• Experience of managing small to medium teams in a social care environment
• Be flexible to manage own time and work some support shifts on the split shift basis (7am – 10am and 3pm - 9pm) with occasional nights. Some admin time will also be included on a 25% (admin) to 75% (support) split (subject to changes).

Salary and Benefits

£22,725 with benefits including 31 days annual leave including Bank Holidays and company pension scheme.
