Job Purpose


This is a key role within the Joint Research Management Office [JRMO] that will support the Governance Operations Manager and is a pivotal position within the JRMO.

The post-holder will work alongside the JRMO Operations Managers and Directors to plan, design, deliver and manage all aspects of performance data required for the JRMO and all external reporting purposes.

You will be responsible for creating, using and maintaining databases to support the reporting and presentation of all research metrics that capture performance across NHS Trust (BH) and University

That allows queries, reports and data retrieval to be performed in an efficient manner, and to explore opportunities to streamline data capture across teams within the JRMO as well as capturing raw data from multiple data repositories across the organisations. Maintenance of data quality and integration of content from multiple data sources will be a key function of this post. The post holder will be able to analyse complex trends involving multiple streams of data and forecast implications both in short and long term.

The post holder will be responsible for submission of national research performance metrics and performance data to the Department of Health and other national bodies as contractually required. The JRMO will be implementing a migration of data into the chosen local portfolio management system (LPMS) and this post will play a pivotal role in this.

Provision of high quality, customer-focussed reporting support and data services for researchers across the Trust and university with our collaborative external partners including other academic centres, NHS trusts, commercial research organisations and research networks.

Maintenance of a strong and current working knowledge of developments regarding clinical research systems and services acting as a source of data performance expertise for the JRMO.

Explore opportunities to streamline data capture across teams within the JRMO as well as capturing raw data from multiple data repositories across the organisations.

Maintenance of excellent working relationships and cross team working across the JRMO.

Development, improvement and maintenance of data systems to support the Governance team and wider JRMO.

Improve research performance across Trust and University and be responsible for the accurate submission of Trust research data for the Department of Health Benchmarks related to Performance in Initiating and Delivering Clinical Research.

Lead the planning and implementing of data migration into the chosen local portfolio management system (LPMS).

Be responsible for the submission of the Trust mandatory performance metrics to the
Department of Health and other national bodies to include but not limited to the following reports
Performance in Initiating and Delivering Clinical Research (quarterly)
NIHR Infrastructure Data reports (quarterly)
This will require the post-holder to oversee and coordinate the collection and analysis of performance data across
the Trust’s NIHR infrastructure.

Be responsible for the submission of quarterly performance reports to the Trust Joint Clinical Research Board (JCRB
all aspects of R&D performance metrics.

Be responsible for the production of the performance metrics for Clinical Boards.
