Brief outline of this challenging career opportunity includes:
Using their expertise and experience the post- holder will undertake continuous exploration of the funding landscape and develop a strategic view of funding opportunities, which match interdisciplinary research foci, ensuring the Institute capitalises on these opportunities.
Providing guidance and support to academic and research staff in developing their research ideas into fully-fledged, grant application-ready, proposals, they will then coordinate grant applications through local and funder processes ensuring organisational compliancy at each stage.
The post-holder will assume full responsibility for managing the Institute’s grant and consultancy

Portfolio, developing tools and platforms from which they can readily provide reports to inform the Institute’s research strategy.
Promoting the Institute’s research activity is key to ongoing success - forging new collaborations and supporting the fundraising campaign as well as attracting funding and students. Working with the Institute’s Communication Manager and colleagues from the Office of Vice Provost Research (OVPR) the post-holder will ensure the breadth of research undertaken is accurately reflected on digital media, such as the website, other marketing materials and at fundraising events.

Pre-Award and Contracts Administration

Disseminate information on new funding initiatives and deadlines.
Organise the provision of financial data to inform costing's for funding and proposals.
Prepare funding applications in conjunction with Principle Investigators including providing costing for proposed project.
Monitor proposal budgets to ensure financial viability and report to senior colleagues for approval as needed.
Work alongside academic and research staff to set and adhere to proposal deadlines as well as meet the sponsor’s funding guidelines.
Oversee the proposal process and support senior colleagues in research management as needed.
Ensure that accounts and budgets for new awards are set up quickly and efficiently.
Coordinate the contracting process for new projects.
Generate account codes in collaboration with senior research managers, UCL Business and Contracts Research Office.
Maintain minutes of funding committee meetings and records of awards distributed.

Post-Award Research Administration:

Provide financial reports for grant activity.
Work with grant holders to record outputs and assess impact.
Maintain post-award support, advising grant holders as needed.
Monitor expenditure against grant budget and alerting relevant people on under and over-spends.
Oversee the tracking, updating and maintenance of records and files of all correspondences, minutes and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Prepare regular and accurate reports of the progress of projects and provide metrics in appropriate format for all relevant project stakeholders.
Initiate and monitor the process of research staff appointments and contract extensions as well as directly assist in the recruitment of new research staff.
Keep all information confidential and comply with data protection and ethics legislation.
