The Tax Year runs from 5th Apr to 4th Apr
P45’s
If you have a current P45 this must be submitted to us on starting a booking. ALL employers issue these and they are a record of the income earned and tax paid in the current Tax year of that employment.
When you receive your P45 you will have parts; 1a, 2 & 3. Part 1a is yours to keep and Parts 2 & 3 should be handed to your new employer (that’s us).
Antipodeans note: UK P45’s are similar to your P60’s at home, when you get these documents keep them as you will NOT receive one at the Tax Year end! Our P60’s are also different, see below.
P46’s
If you do not have a P45 you will be required to complete a P46. This notifies the Tax Office of your whereabouts in order that they can gather your Tax records together to issue you with the appropriate tax coding. Please note that if you do not return this form you will may pay BASIC RATE TAX – which you have to claim back from the Tax Office directly.
The Inland Revenue will notify us within 2-10 weeks of the appropriate Tax Coding to implement on our Payroll System. Please note that we cannot make any amendments until we have been contacted directly.

P38’s
These are to be completed by students that are only working during their School, College or University Holiday periods and RETURNING to FULL TIME education. A declaration will also need to be made that you have no other employment except during the stated holiday periods.
P60's
A P60 is given to every employee THAT IS WORKING on 5th April. If you are paid on a 'cumulative' basis it will show all your earnings and tax deducted for the year. If you are on a 'WK1' basis you will only be shown your earnings and tax deducted for the time you have worked for the employer that gave you the P60. If you have previously worked with Adept and were not working as at 4th April you will not receive a P60.
