Head of Group Accounts

My Client is an international commercial Law firm. They seek a qualified accountant with at least 5 years PQE with a proven track record of being a self starter. The job holder needs to be proactive, able to work with minimum supervision and be capable of managing and prioritising their own workload. It has been stressed that they seek a Hands on person that can take control and steer the teams projects and workload. Experience of dealing with overseas offices is a key factor in the running of this role.

The candidate must be confident in excel at an advanced level and comfortable with IT applications in general. Technical knowledge of latest accounting standards would also be an advantage.

The candidate will work closely with the CFO, Group Accountant, Group Accounts team, Financial Systems Manager, UK Finance Director and international finance managers to co-ordinate the international accounts team response to routine and ad-hoc work.

SALARY: �80-100k + Excellent benefits

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Maternity Cover up to 12 months

IDEAL START DATE: Beginning March

MAIN DUTIES:
Monthly

�Check integrity and accuracy of reports circulated to partnership
-Review online KPI Dashboard data for consistency with other reported data
�Production of finance pack
-Review statistics and assist in their production if necessary
-Liaise with all international finance managers to ensure timeliness of submission of P&Ls, cashflow forecasts, commentaries and supporting schedules
-Review all office P&Ls and consolidated P&L and check WIP calculations and profit reconciliation
-Review all office level commentaries and follow up queries with international finance managers as required
-Review consolidated balance sheet
-Work with Group Accounts team to produce global commentary

Planning
�Set all reporting timetables for the year - year-end, management reporting and budgeting/forecasting
�Identify key projects throughout the year and allocate Group Account�s resource accordingly

Year end
�Year end close:
Perform review of key accounts in non-UK offices to ensure there are no mispostings and check consistency with the firm�s accounting policies and UK GAAP
Prepare calculations for WIP valuation, Debt valuation and interoffice interest
Review management charge calculation for non-UK elements
Ensure all international finance managers are aware of year-end timings and have planned their audits accordingly
Audit:
Provide support to the Group Accountant and UK Finance Director during the audit process
Assist with post-audit adjustments from all offices
Partnership reporting:
Work with the Group Accountant to ensure the timely production of the LLP accounts

Other reporting commitments
Review of weekly statistics for Global Executive meeting and production of any other reporting required for distribution to this group

Budgeting/forecasting
Assist the CFO with preparing longer term financial projections
Ensure that the forecasting and budgeting models are ready for use
Liaise with all international finance managers to ensure that the timetable is adhered to and any problems are identified early in the process
Review all office P&L, headcount and capex budgets/forecasts
Attend budget/forecast meetings with Heads of Country where required
Work with the Group Accountant to ensure the completion of the annual budget cashflow

General
Act as a central point of contact for all ad hoc queries from the international accounts team, other support departments, partners and fee-earners, and ensure that the query is allocated to the person best placed to deal with it.
Ensure all routine reporting commitments are met
Assist in establishing firm-wide policy for the processing of transactions and ensure the consistent application of such policies throughout the group

Other
Management and development of Group Accounts team
Involvement in annual Partner review process in particular the preparation of comparative graphs of partner performance
Training for International Accounts staff and fee-earners including Partners
Project manager / team member of accounting projects where there is a global finance element

ESSENTIAL WORK SKILLS:
